The crew of the tanker M/T ST. NICHOLAS visited today, after permission from the Iranian authorities, the local insurance correspondent carrier (P&I Club) of the ship’s management company Empire Navigation Inc.

The ST. NIKOLAS remains at anchor in Bandar Abbas, Iran.

According to the company’s latest announcement, the representative met with crew members in order to provide all necessary assistance and confirmed that all sailors are safe and in good health.

The Greek-owned tanker has a crew of 19, including a trainee Greek captain.

Satellite communications with the vessel are still down.

It is noted that the ship was seized by a group of armed men while it was sailing loaded with about 145,000 metric tons of crude oil, having started from Basra in Iraq bound for Aliaga in Turkey through the Suez Canal.

As Iranian media have reported, the ship’s cargo was seized following a court order by the Iranian navy.
