It is worth noting that an alternate juror was dismissed from the trial
The testimony of Michelle Trokoni, mistress of the Greek expatriate Fotis Doulos, continues for a fifth daywho and committed suicide in 2020 after being accused of kidnapping and murdering his estranged wife Jennifer.
Troconi is accused of complicity in the murder of his wife by his own hand.
It is worth noting that alternate juror removed from trial after interaction with defense attorneyon Wednesday.
The Dulos case shocked public opinion.
His estranged wife Greek expatriate entrepreneur Jennifer Farber-Doulos mysteriously disappeared in May 2019 after taking the couple’s five children to school.
When she filed for divorce in 2017, she had informed the authorities that she was afraid that her husband would harm her.
After gathering overwhelming circumstantial evidence, such as videos depicting Dulos trashing items that turned out to have Jennifer’s blood on them, but also his DNA in her house, prosecutions were brought against Fotis Doulos for the abduction and murder of the woman, although her body was never found.
The businessman attempted carbon monoxide poisoning while he was expected to appear in court for the issue that had arisen with his warranty.
He was briefly hospitalized in critical condition and passed away in late January 2020.
The nanny who takes care of the five children of Fotis and Jennifer Dulou testified in court Wednesday about what he remembers from the day the unfortunate woman disappeared from the Connecticut area.
According to an Associated Press report, Almeida stated that she had four of their children with her – the other was to a friend of his – and was scheduled to meet with Jennifer Dulu in Manhattan on the afternoon of May 24, 2019.
He texted her, called her but she didn’t answer.
“My stomach tightened. She always answered her phone,” Almeida testified in Superior Court in Stamford, Connecticut.
Almeida went to a Manhattan doctor’s office where Jennifer Doulo had an appointment, hoping to find her there.
“When I realized that he had not gone, I was shocked. I thought I have her four children in front of me and I don’t know what to do”, said Almeida.
“I just went out and started calling people who might have news of Jennifer.”
The police believe that Fotis Doulos attacked Jennifer Doulos in the garage of her home in New Canaan, Connecticutafter she dropped the kids off at school that day.
She then drove away in her own SUV, where she had placed her body which was never found.
Fotis Doulos denied having anything to do with her disappearance.
The 49-year-old Trokonis pleaded not guilty and denies the chargeswhich also include falsification of evidence and obstruction of justice.
Almeida testified that she and Jennifer Dulou had become afraid of Fotis Dulouwhen their marriage also suffered a serious blow from the revelation of his illicit relationship with Trokonis.
Almeida said Fotis Doulos had been threatening Jennifer and had a heated argument with her inside the Farmington home.with her locking herself in a room and him trying to break down the locked door.
When Jennifer Dulu disappeared, Almeida said she panicked.
He also called hospitals, but to no avail.
She called her mother, who tried to calm her down and then called New Canaan police.
“We told the police that a mother of five with a very difficult divorce is missing. I knew he had bought a gun so I was scared. They immediately took action”Almeida said.
Almeida, 32, continues to be a nanny for the five children, who have been living with Jennifer Doulo’s mother, Gloria Farber, in Manhattan since their mother disappeared.
In the first days of the trial, police testified about traces of blood found in Jennifer Doulo’s garage and SUV; which was found abandoned in a New Canaan park.
Police said the garage showed signs of an attempted cleanup.
Almeida testified that she had put a 12-pack of paper towels in the kitchen cupboard the day before Jennifer Dulu disappeared, but the next day only two were there.
When Almeida went home on the day of the disappearance around 11 a.m. — shortly after Jennifer Dulu’s SUV was seen on a neighbor’s dashcam leaving the neighborhood — said he didn’t notice any blood in the garage, but did find Jennifer’s purse inside the house.
