Lithuania announced today that its citizens in Ukraine should “assess whether (their) continued presence is necessary”.

“Today, the State Department ordered the departure of American workers, who are not needed for the embassy’s emergency services, due to the information that continues to speak of a strengthening of the Russian army on the border with Ukraine, an indication of a possible significant military action, “the embassy in Kiev said in a Twitter message.

Also, the British nationals in Ukraine have been warned not to wait for a military evacuation and are urged to leave “immediately by any means possible”.

At the same time, after the United Kingdom, USA, Japan, Latvia, Norway, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand They are also involved in issuing warnings to citizens who are still in the country.

Undersecretary of Defense James Hippy told Sky News: “British nationals should leave Ukraine immediately by all possible means and should not expect, as they saw this summer with Afghanistan, that there will be any possibility of a military evacuation.”

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the Americans should leave within 48 hours and also should not wait for a military evacuation if they do not heed that advice.

As new forces continue to reach the Ukrainian border, he added: “If there is a Russian attack on Ukraine, it is likely to start with airstrikes and rocket attacks that could obviously kill civilians regardless of their nationality.”

US officials also said the country was ready to evacuate its embassy in Kiev in the face of a possible Russian invasion.
