Critics of health restrictions that have arrived in convoys from all over the Netherlands have today blocked the center of The Hague, where they are determined to stay, despite warnings from law enforcement to leave the area.
“The protesters in the center of The Hague have until 15.30 local time (16.30 Greek time) to leave with their vehicles,” police wrote in a tweet, threatening arrests and fines.
The convoy “continues to move until fundamental and lasting changes take place,” said in a statement the organizers of the mobilization, who demand the lifting of all health measures in the country.
The Dutch state television network estimates that several hundred vehicles are blocking the famous “Binnehof”, where many Dutch decision centers are located.
The first protesters arrived at 0730 in the morning in trucks, cars, and even tractors and caravans, demanding an end to health restrictions.
“We are still here and we will see how this develops,” Rutger van Lieer, a 46-year-old protester and businessman by profession, told AFP.
Other protesters say they will continue their march to Brussels or Paris.
