“There is no real proposal from Hamas. It’s not true,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office told representatives of families held hostage after some stormed a committee meeting in parliament, demanding a deal to free them.

“I say this as clearly as I can because there are so many false statements that are certainly painful for you,” Netanyahu added. “On the contrary, there is an initiative from our side, about which I will not elaborate” he pointed out.

Relatives of the hostages have long pressed the Israeli government to move forward with a deal that would bring back their own people. His remarks come after speculation that a new deal is being prepared to release hostages held in the Gaza Strip, saying Israel has taken an initiative.
