Britain plans to announce in the coming days new sanctionss targeting funding for Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, the Prime Minister said today Rishi Sunak.

American and British forces launched a new round of strikes in Yemen yesterday, Monday, targeting an underground Houthi storage facility as well as missile and surveillance capabilities used by the Iran-allied group.

“We will use the most effective means at our disposal in order to do so to cut off the financial resources of the Houthiswhere they are being used to fund these attacks,” Sunak told the House of Commons.

“We are working closely with the United States on this and plan to announce new sanctions measures in the coming days.”

The British Prime Minister also stated that “the first data we have from last night’s strikes show that all the intended targets have been destroyed”.

Rishi Sunak also said that British Foreign Secretary David Cameron will visit the Middle East this week.
