A drone carrying explosives on Thursday struck facilities at the Hor Mor gas field in the Sulaymaniyah region of Iraqi Kurdistan, Reuters news agency reported, citing two officials who said there were no injuries but limited damage.

Pearl Petroleum, a joint venture of Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum, based in the United Arab Emirates, has the rights to exploit the Khor Mor and Chemchemal fields, which are among Iraq’s largest.

Earlier on Thursday, a drone carrying explosives targeting US forces at a base near Arbil airport was shot down, the counter-terrorism agency of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, an autonomous region in northern Iraq, said.

Since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas in October last year, there have been almost daily rocket and drone attacks against bases in Iraq where US forces and other countries participating in the military alliance to fight the jihadists are stationed.
