Moscow “does not pay a penny” for the risk of enforcement sanctions from the West in the case of a invasion of Ukrainesaid the Russian ambassador to Sweden.
“Forgive me for the expression, but we do not pay a penny for all their sanctions,” Viktor Tatarinchev told Aftonbladet in an interview published late last night on the Swedish newspaper’s website.
“They have already imposed so many sanctions on us and in a sense they have had a positive impact on our economy and agriculture,” he said.
“We are already self-sufficient and we are able to increase our exports. “(For example) we do not have Italian or Swiss cheeses, but we have learned to make Russian cheeses, just as well, using Italian or Swiss recipes,” he explained.
“The new sanctions do not have anything positive, but they are not as bad as the West says,” he said.
For Tatarinchev, Western countries do not understand the Russian spirit: “The more the West puts pressure on Russia, the stronger the Russian response will be.”
However, he assured that Russia is trying to avoid a war.
“This is the most sincere wish of our political leadership. “The last thing people want in Russia is war.”
