The Pentagon declined to comment immediately after Iraq’s pro-Iranian militant group Kataeb Hezbollah announced it was suspending all military operations against US troops in the region, saying only: “Deeds speak louder than words.”

When pressed about it, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said there had already been three attacks against US forces in the region since the January 28 drone attack on a base in Jordan that killed three soldiers and wounded more than 40 members of the military. The spokesman hinted that a response from the US would follow.

“Regarding the announcement that is there, I don’t think we could be any clearer that we have called on Iran’s proxy organizations to stop their attacks. They have not, and therefore, we will respond at a time and in a way that we choose.” , Ryder emphasized at a press conference.

“When I say deeds speak louder than words, you know, there have been three attacks that I know of since January 28th. And I’ll leave it at that.”
