Yesterday was Tuesday US President Joe Biden said he had made his decisions on retaliating for a drone attack that Washington attributed to “Iranian-backed” Iraqi militias that killed three members of the American armed forces at a support base in Jordan, without giving any further clarification.
Members and officers of the Revolutionary Guards, an elite body of Iran’s army, have recently been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Syria, five on January 20, two more on December 25.
Monday before, new Israeli strike targets ‘Iraqi military advisory center’ in Syria; resulting in the death of two people, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim. But the Iranian ambassador in Damascus denied that the target of the raid was an Iranian facility and assured that the victims were not Iranian.
For its part, Iran launched missile strikes in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region on December 15, specifically targeting what it described as the “headquarters” of Mossad, Israel’s spy agency.
