The Kremlin said today that it is monitoring the situation around Valery ZaluznyUkraine’s top military commander, following Western and Ukrainian media reports that the president Volodymyr Zelensky tries to remove Zaluzny.

According to media reports, attributed to unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter, at a meeting yesterday, Monday, Zelensky offered Zaluzny, chief of the general staff of the armed forces, a new role but the general refused.

Commenting on the situation around Zaluzny, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov he said: “We are certainly watching it. There are still many questions. (But) one thing remains clear — the Kiev regime has a lot of problems, things are not going well there,” Peskov said.

“It is clear that the failed (summer) counteroffensive and the problems at the front are leading to growing contradictions between the representatives of this Kiev regime. Those contradictions will increase as (Russia’s) special military operation, as Moscow calls the war in Ukraine, “continues to be successful,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
