35-year-old Abdul Sokur Izedi is wanted by the police as the perpetrator of the “horrific” attack described by authorities with a corrosive chemical against a 31-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged eight and three, which occurred in south London on Wednesday night.
The responsible police inspector said that the suspect was last seen in north London and that he is from the Newcastle area, where he may be trying to escape.
For this reason, the British Transport Police and the relevant police department in the North East of England have been informed.
The relationship between the perpetrator and the victims is not yet known, as well as the address of the victims’ residence has not yet been made known to the police.
The condition of the 31-year-old and her younger daughter is described as stable but not life-threatening the injuries they carry are potentially “life-changing.”
The eight-year-old girl was slightly injured, as well as three neighbors who rushed to help, as well as five police officers. The injuries are believed to be mainly minor burns from contact with the chemical, which has been confirmed to be an alkaline liquid.
The police inspector asked anyone with any information, especially when the suspect’s photo is released, to contact the authorities, but warned citizens “not to approach him”. Izendi has a “serious” wound on one side of his face.
Special mention was made by the police of the reaction of the residents who rushed to help the victims, but also to chase the perpetrator, as did three women and a man from the area.
