Four members of the Colombian armed forces died on Monday when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed in northwestern Colombia, near the border with Panama, the general staff said.
Yesterday afternoon, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the army, which was “carrying out a cargo transport mission at the Kuti military base in Choko Prefecture, suffered an accident”, according to a press release from the staff, which does not even specify the exact location, nor the circumstances of the accident.
“Forces on the ground immediately rushed to the scene of the accident (…) in coordination with the Panamanian authorities”, as part of a “search and rescue” operation.
“Four of our soldiers were found dead on the spot”, among them the captain and the co-pilot, while three wounded were transported to the Apartado community (north), always according to the Colombian army.
An investigation is underway and a committee of army experts has been sent to the crash site to “ascertain the circumstances” under which it happened, the press release concluded.
