After years of fighting each other, princes harry and william could they rekindle their relationship?

The arrival of the Duke of Sussex today in London to visit Charles, who is suffering from cancer, rekindles the hope of a reconciliation within the royal family.

The king’s youngest son left Los Angeles in no time after the shock announcement of his father’s cancer, which was discovered during prostate surgery he underwent about 10 days ago. Harry was spotted arriving at London Heathrow Airport this afternoon.

As happened during the lightning visit he made for Charles’s enthronement in May, Prince Harry, whose relations have cooled with his father and especially with his brother William, he appears to have come alone from California, without his wife Megan and their two children, Archie and Lilybet.

“Is it time for Harry to come home?” asked tabloid The Mirror, which, like most British newspapers, has devoted lengthy articles to a possible reconciliation between the Windsors.

The burning question it is mainly to find out if Harry will also meet with William, whose wife Kate is also recovering from abdominal surgery, the cause of which has not been clarified, fueling a variety of scenarios.

“As Charles is torn apart by the dispute between his sons and hopes for a rapprochement, William is convinced that trust (…) has been completely lost”, underlines the commentator of the royal family Richard Kay, in his statements to the Daily Mail.

Although King Charles continued to appear affectionate towards his youngest son, for example speaking of his “love” for him in his speech the day after Elizabeth’s death, his brother did not seem to have digested the fact that he had spoken harshly about the one in Harry’s autobiography “Spare”.

The Duke of Sussex was particularly critical of his older brother, whom he described as “hot-tempered”, while describing his pain at having been “his shadow, (his) stand-in, (his) plan B” for the whole his life. He also hinted that William did not marry Kate for love.

The last time the princes appeared together was in September 2022, for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth and according to Richard Kay, William and Harry have not exchanged “a single word” in months.

Before the book’s release, the relationship between Lady Di’s two sons, who had been very close in the past, had already soured, with tensions and arguments set against the backdrop of constant press pressure on the British scandals.

The couple Harry and Meghan ended up closing the door on the royal family and to abdicate to move to the US in 2020, sharply criticizing the British monarchy in interviews and a Netflix documentary series.

During an interview with the powerful American presenter Oprah Winfrey, they also claimed that members of the royal family had questioned the skin color of their son Archie.

In early December, the names of King Charles and Princess Kate were mentioned in the Dutch edition of a new book about the Windsors, which was quickly pulled from bookshop shelves by its publisher, who cited a “translation error”, they said British media.

Harry has returned to Britain twice in the past year: for his father’s coronation and in June for one of the many trials he is involved in with the British tabloids, against whom he is waging a legal war.

Despite the distance cemented between the brothers, “the royal family, like any family, must stay together” in the face of the cancer ordeal and a rapprochement, even tentative, could take place in the coming weeks, the royal expert reckons issues Richard Fitzwilliams, answering a question from AFP.

“The only thing they still have in common is their love for their ‘beloved father’the only parent they have left,” highlights Camilla Tominey, an expert on the monarchy, in her statements to the Telegraph.
