“As long as we invest in our security and remain united, we will continue to prevent any attack,” said the governor. of NATO
To boost their production of weapons to increase deliveries to Ukraine and prevent a confrontation with Moscow “that could last decades”, calls on the Europeans, in an interview published today in the German press, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
While there is less than a week left for the meeting of the NATO Defense Ministers at Brussels, on 15 and 16 Februarythe NATO chief said: “We need to rebuild and develop our industrial base faster to increase deliveries to Ukraine and reorganize our own stockpiles.”
“This means that we have to go from slow production in peacetime to rapid production in times of conflict,” Jens Stoltenberg told the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
“There is no direct military threat to a (NATO) ally. At the same time, the Kremlin regularly makes threats against NATO countries,” Stoltenberg said.
Stressing that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine almost two years ago showed that peace in Europe is not a given, he insisted on the importance of protecting the countries of the alliance.
“As long as we invest in our security and remain united, we will continue to prevent any attack,” he said.
“NATO is not seeking war with Russia but we must prepare for a confrontation that could last decades,” he said.
