Attacks with unmanned aircraft (drones) were launched during the night in Kiev and southern Ukraine by Russiaas a result of which at least one person was injured and damage was caused to a gas pipeline and residences in Mykolifeas the Ukrainian army announced today.

The Ukrainian Air Force said in a Telegram post that its air defense systems destroyed 40 of the 45 Shahed drones launched by Russia overnight.

“The air raid alert in the capital lasted almost two hours,” he said on Telegram Sergio Popco, head of the Kiev military administration.

He added that all the drones over Kiev were shot down during their approach. According to initial reports, there were no injuries or damage in or near the capital. The threat to the airwaves over Kyiv came shortly before 4:00 am (local and Greek time).

Ukraine’s southern military command reported on Telegram that its air defense systems destroyed 26 Shahed-type drones launched by Russia over various southern regions, mainly in Mykolayiv near the Black Sea.

At least one civilian was wounded in the attack in southern Ukraine, the military said.

“The priority for the enemy was again the coastal zone of infrastructure and agro-industrial facilities,” the military said.

In Mykolife, residential buildings and a gas pipeline were damaged by shrapnel from a downed drone and the blast’s shock wave, according to the military command. Four drones were shot down over the Black Sea port of Odessa.
