The president of Iran lined up today in favor of the exclusion of Israel from the UNduring the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, marked by rallies in Tehran and major Iranian cities.

Support for the Palestinians prevailed this year in the traditional events for the anniversary of the 1979 revolution.

“We propose to exclude the Zionist entity from the United Nations”President Ibrahim Raishi said, referring to Israel, a country that does not recognize Iran.

Because “what is happening today in Gaza is a crime against Humanity and the supporters of this criminal regime are the USA and some Western countries”, added the Iranian president during a speech delivered before thousands of people who had gathered in Azadi Square in Tehran.

President Raisi accused Israel that “violated 400 declarations, resolutions and agreements” which were joined in the womb “international organizations”.

Iran has emerged as one of Hamas’ key allies in the war that began on October 7 with an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist group in southern Israel that killed more than 1,160 people, most of them civilians, according to a count of the French Agency carried out based on official data of the Israeli authorities.

In retaliation, Israel has vowed to “exterminate” Hamas, which it considers a terrorist organization, as do the US and the European Union. The Israeli army has launched an offensive that has killed more than 28,000 people in Gaza, most of them civilians, according to Hamas’ health ministry.

In Tehran’s Azadi Square, some in the crowd held pictures of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a January 2020 US military strike in Baghdad.

The event featured slogans such as “Down with the USA”, “Down with Israel”, “Down with Britain”, the main opponents of the Islamic Republic of Iran since 1979.
