The barrage of gunfire that unfolded in his celebration Super Bowl in Kansas City appears to have stemmed from an undisclosed dispute, local authorities said Thursday. A mother of two was killed.

Police Chief Stacey Graves also announced that the 22 people injured in the shooting are between the ages of 8 and 47, half of whom are under 16.

Three people were arrested — including two juveniles — but no charges have yet been filed, Graves said. Police are appealing for witnesses, people with cellphone footage and victims of the violence to call a hotline.

“We are working to determine the participation of others. And it should be noted that we have found quite a few firearms. This incident remains a very active investigation,” he said at a news conference.

As the AP notes, the shootings outside the Union train station occurred despite the presence of more than 800 police officers who were in the building and area, some of them shot at, admitted Mayor Quinton Lucas, who was attending the parade with his wife and mother and ran to escape when the shots rang out. But he doesn’t expect to cancel the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“We have parades all the time. I don’t think they will finish. We certainly recognized the challenges and the public safety issues associated with them,” Lucas said.
