In the shadow of Donald Trump’s statements, the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, the 60th Munich Security Conference begins today.

More than 50 leaders, 60 foreign and defense ministers, heads of international organizations and hundreds of security academic and business representatives will participate in the 60th Security Conference (MSC) taking place from today to Sunday in the Bavarian capital. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also take part in the Conference.

Among the officials expected in Munich are US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Chancellor Olaf Solz, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Israeli President Isaac Herzog and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres . A meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) is also planned on the sidelines of the Conference.

On the agenda of the 60th MSC will be Ukraine, the Middle East, immigration, climate change, and Europe’s role in security and defense matters.

This year’s Munich Security Conference will be held in the shadow of America’s political turmoil and remarks by Donald Trump raising widespread concerns about whether the US will be able to continue providing billions of dollars in defense aid to Ukraine.

Although participants such as Harris and Blinken are expected to praise American leadership, the conference is expected to raise questions about the unprecedented challenges.
