Lawsuit against Alec Baldwin by Halina Hutchins’s family

by

The family of Halina Hutchins, who lost her life when the actor accidentally shot her fatally during the filming of Rust, has filed a lawsuit against actor Alec Baldwin.

According to the New York Times, in the lawsuit filed by Director of Photography Matthew Hutchins, her son and family counselor, both the actor and other members of the production are accused of reckless behavior and adoption of cost-cutting tactics danger to workers, including non-compliance with basic safety controls and weapons rules.

Halina Hutchins deserved to live. The accused had the power to prevent her death if they did their duty and protected the safety of each person in the set where there were weapons. “They ignored allegations of security breaches,” the lawsuit states.

It is recalled that during a rehearsal for a scene in the film, the gun that Baldwin was holding exploded, killing filmmaker Halina Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. It remains unclear how a real bullet was found in the chamber.

The tragedy on the ranch in New Mexico, where the film was being shot, remains under investigation by local authorities. No criminal prosecution has been instituted.

The famous actor has stated that he was informed that the gun was “cold” – a term used in the shooting to indicate that it is safe to use – and that he did not pull the trigger.
