At least three people were killed, including a teenage girl, and four were wounded by Ukrainian shelling in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk province controlled by Russian forces, an occupation official said today.

Panteleimonivka is located just 20 kilometers from the front line and about the same distance to the northeast from the city of Donetsk, the capital of the province.

In this area, the Russian army overnight scored its biggest victory in months, forcing Ukrainian soldiers to withdraw from Avdiivka, a city where heavy fighting had been raging since the autumn.

At the same time the Russian Ministry of Defense announced this morning that air defenses had “intercepted or destroyed” 33 Ukrainian drones headed for Russia.
