“We will not forget or forgive. It is a serious anti-Semitic attack. On my behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Israel — tell President Lula he is persona non grata [ανεπιθύμητος] to Israel until he gets it back,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz told the Brazilian ambassador, according to a statement from Katz’s office.
Israel accused Lula of downplaying the Holocaust and insulting the Jewish people in comments he made at the 37th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa. Katz called the Brazilian ambassador to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem today to reprimand him for the comments.
