Officers received a call reporting human “remains” on the side of the 4 tracks in the Bronx
A human foot was found on New York City subway tracks over the weekend, and the city’s police have launched a search to identify the body to which the grisly find belongs.
Around noon Saturday, police received a call that human “remains” were found on the side of the 4 tracks in the Bronx. When they arrived at the scene they saw a foot, police said in their statement.
In the labyrinthine network of the subway of New York there are occasionally dramatic events that in recent years have taken on great proportions in the media, such as those of passengers pushed onto the tracks by criminals. The authorities are also trying to raise public awareness of the phenomenon of the so-called subway surfers, the daring young people who film themselves on the outside (usually on the roof) of the carriages and post the footage on social networking sites. In recent months, there have been several fatal accidents involving risky subway surfers.
Last week, a 34-year-old man was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting on a platform at another Bronx station.
