A memorial service was held on Wednesday morning at the Orthodox Cathedral of Hagia Sophia in west London for one year of the death of the former King Constantine.
The second ceremony after Tuesday’s in Windsor, hosted by the British royal family, was open to the public, with around 150 friends and family of the deceased in attendance.
The memorial service was performed by Nikitas, Archbishop of Thyatira and Great Britain.
The memorial speech was made by his son Constantinos Pavlos with emotion.
In a statement after the ceremony, Paul expressed his thanks to those who honored his father this two days in London and Windsor, recalling the days when the family attended church in Hagia Sophia. He especially thanked King Charles for organizing yesterday’s Thanksgiving Mass at the chapel of Agios Georgios.
Regarding his emotion, he said that as time passes he realizes the loss of a person he loved very much. He added: “Greece is our love, it is in our blood, in our soul and we continue to do what we can for our homeland.”
In his own statement, Nikolaos, the third child of Konstantinos, also wanted to thank the world that “has embraced and supported us” all this year since his father’s death.
