The French president called the fake news attacks misogyny
Furious French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken out for the first time against claims his wife Brigitte was born a man, calling the rumors “false and fabricated”..
Macron, 47, expressed his anger and frustration at the ongoing fake news about Brigitte Macron, 70 years old, whom he married in 2007.
“The worst is false information and fabricated scenarios,” Macron said. “People eventually believe them and bother you, even in your personal life.”
Macron spoke on Friday on International Women’s Day after the constitutional guarantee of the right to abortion.
He said claims that Brigitte Macron was born male are online misogynistic attacks that women suffer every day.
Two women who claimed Brigitte Macron was born male were given “symbolic fines” which were reduced on appeal last June.
In turn, both claimed they were “intimidated by the authorities” as “highly protected” members of the Paris establishment tried to cover up a “state secret”.
Details of the strange case have resurfaced after her daughter herself spoke publicly about the allegations for the first time.
