At the invitation of the Organizing Committee, the illustrator Ugo Gattoni created a “painting”, honoring Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for the summer of 2024 in the City of Light. After 2,000 hours of work, the artist has created in detail a rich and joyful universe, in two distinct posters each of which captures the spirit of Olympism and Paralympism respectively.

The Paris 2024 posters bthey are rich in elaborate detail; multiple layers of narratives, from a broad overview to hidden stories revealed upon close examination. The project transforms Paris into a fantastic sports-centric cityscape where iconic landmarks mix with sporting energy. Breaking with tradition, Paris 2024 presents a single ‘painting’, incorporating a variety of elements and symbols synonymous with the Games, including the Olympic Rings, mascots and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Seine.

In addition, many sports are represented on the posters, especially the four new ones that Paris 2024 added to its program: breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing. Drawing inspiration from art deco influences, the posters bridge the historical legacy of the 1900 and 1924 Paris Olympics with excitement for this summer’s awaited.

“When I was asked to design the Paris 2024 Iconic Posters, I immediately imagined a stadium city, open to the world, a frozen time in which you can wander through microcosms where Parisian monuments and sports happily coexist,” said Ugo Gattoni. “For me, this design has to be timeless. It is based on the golden ratio and has a strong academic foundation with a lot of architecture. Its originality lies in its surreal and utopian dimension, both in terms of its composition and the myriad details that exist in it,” he added.
