A fuel storage facility in Ariol, a Russian city 160 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border, was targeted by a Ukrainian drone attack in the early hours of the morning and a fire broke out, regional governor Andrei Klitskov announced.

“Drone crashed in Ariol. Fuel and energy storage complex attacked. Special services are working on site to contain the fire. There are no casualties,” Mr Klitschko summarized via Telegram.

According to an emergency services official quoted by the Russian news agency RIA, a tank containing petroleum products caught fire.

According to Russian media, the attack took place around 03:00 (local time; 02:00 Greek time).

Ukrainian remote-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles also attacked overnight in Russia’s Belgorod region, across from the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, without causing any casualties, according to the regional governor, who noted that a power grid line was damaged.

“Belgorod region was attacked by Ukrainian armed forces with drones, which dropped four explosive devices,” regional governor Vychislav Gladkov said via Telegram.

According to the same official, there was a power outage in seven communities due to the attack.

Also, a drone was destroyed over the Tula region, south of Moscow, according to the Ministry of Security, cited by the Russian news agency TASS.

The governor of the Kursk region, which also neighbors Ukraine, spoke for his part about the downing of two Ukrainian UAVs by the Russian air defense.

The Ukrainian military has been launching drone attacks ever deeper into Russian territory, more than two years after Russian armed forces invaded Ukrainian territory in February 2022.

On Saturday, Russia said it had destroyed 47 Ukrainian drones overnight, mostly in the Rastov-on-Don region, which neighbors Ukraine. This attack is estimated to have targeted, among other things, an aircraft manufacturing plant.
