Wounds in the city Belgorod and in the region Samara brought about in the last hours by the Ukrainian forces. As the regional governor of the border city of Belgorod announced today, two people were killed and three injured in a Ukrainian missile strike.

In a statement on the Telegram messaging app, the governor of Belgorod, Mr Vyacheslav Gladkov, stated that a man and a woman were dead. The man died when his truck was hit and the woman was killed in a parking lot. This woman’s son was seriously injured and doctors are “fighting to keep him alive”. Two more people were injured.

According to the governor, the city was hit by missiles fired by a Vampire system. He said that vehicles and buildings were damaged in Belgorod and surrounding villages.

Belgorod, a province bordering Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, has come under several attacks by Kiev forces since 2022. In December, 25 people were killed in a single missile strike on the city.

Earlier today, Gladkov said five people, including a child, were injured in a drone attack on a vehicle moving near the Ukrainian border.

Russians continue to go to the polls today in the three-day election process to choose the country’s president, with Vladimir Putin yesterday accusing Ukraine of trying to sabotage the election, in which he is certain to win a new term.

However, Ukrainian drones hit Russian refineries in the Russian region of Samara. The governor of Russia’s Samara region said today that Ukrainian drones hit two Rosneft oil refineries in the area, without any casualties, however causing a fire in one unit.

The governor Dmitry Azarov said in a statement posted on the Telegram messaging app that the Syzran refinery in that region, which is crossed by the Volga River, was on fire, but that the attack on the Novokubishev refinery had been repelled.

He said that workers at both factories were evacuated and that there were no casualties.

Video – its authenticity has not been verified – uploaded online shows a large fire at the Sizran refinery, with emergency services on the scene.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has been targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure, hitting refineries across the European part of Russia.
