“An impressive photo or selfie is not worth risking your life for, and those who go ashore to take photos are also putting our teams at risk,” Coast Guard Commander Ben Hampling said in a statement.

“We urge the people, in the strongest possible way, to stay away from the coast.”
The Coast Guard said it had received many reports of people on the shore photographing the waves, and even families standing on the beach with their children.
“The reports we are receiving are frightening,” Humpling said.
“Under these circumstances, all that is needed is a wave.”
