July 18 was announced by the British government as the date for the fourth meeting of the European Political Community, a political coordination platform attended by leaders from EU member states and from the rest of the old continent.

The meeting will be hosted at the historic Blenheim Palace outside Oxford, birthplace of Winston Churchill.

According to Downing Street, the roughly 50 European leaders will discuss the situation in Ukraine and the issue of illegal immigration – as well as any other issue anyone wants to put on the agenda.

The first session was held in October 2022 in Prague with the main topic being the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This was followed by a meeting in Moldova with the main objective of strengthening the country against Russian aggression, and then the leaders were hosted in Granada, with topics such as Artificial Intelligence and illegal immigration.

The announcement of the date, which many European countries complained was delayed, seems to rule out the possibility of a UK election before the autumn.
