Emergency power outages were noted in Odessa of Ukraine today after one of the city’s high voltage installations was damaged by Russian air strikeUkrainian energy company DTEK announced.
“The situation remains difficult”DTEK pointed out on Telegram. “In order to reduce the load on the grid, the electric means of transport in the city will not operate, while the electricity consumption by the industries will remain limited”, explained.
Odessa authorities reported on Telegram that the city and the region have been targeted by several drone attacks launched by Russia. Four of them were shot down over Odesa and Mykolife regions.
Debris from a drone caused a fire at a power plantwhich was quickly extinguished.
DTEK pointed out that electricity was restored this morning in two areas of Odessa.
Drones in Russia too
Meanwhile early this morning a fire broke out at one of the largest thermoelectric plants in southwestern Russia, as a result of which two of its units were put out of operation and caused temporary problems in the electricity supply.
There are no casualties and authorities are investigating the cause of the fire that broke out at the Novoserkask power plant in Rostov, regional governor Vasily Gulubev said on Telegram.
The Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced for its part that it destroyed 11 drones that were launched overnight from Ukraine against the Rostov region, but did not specify whether they were related to the damage to the factory.
The Baza Telegram account, which is close to Russia’s security forces, said the fire at the power plant was caused by Ukrainian drones.
