Planning remains for the departure to the Gaza Strip of a second humanitarian aid ship which is now in the port of Larnaca, the Cyprus News Agency said, citing information.

According to information from the KYPE, the ship Jennifer, which will be the second ship to carry humanitarian aid to Gaza, within the framework of the “Amalthia” project, is expected to sail for its destination towards the end of the week, and, in any case possibility, on Saturday.

Jennifer’s journey will last approximately three days, as the CYPE is informed, as it will also carry the platform that the Open Arms ship had carried with it to Gaza.

Open Arms, the Spanish NGO ship, the first to transport 200 tons of food by sea to Gaza, will accompany the Jennifer along with another support vessel to transport equipment.

The aim is to keep the platform in Gaza, which was brought back to Larnaca by Open Arms for some repairs, the same sources said, noting that, in this way, future ship trips to Gaza will take less time.

Both the ships, the Open Arms, which made its first humanitarian aid trip to Gaza by sailing from the port of Larnaca about two weeks ago, and the Jennifer, are part of missions organized by the NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK ).

It is noted that the food reached families in the Palestinian enclave, whose residents are on the brink of starvation, after almost 6 months of the Israeli military offensive, which began after the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7.

This was the first humanitarian cargo to reach the Gaza shore in nearly two decades.

Together with local and international partners, WCK has delivered more than 39 million meals by land, sea and air to Palestinians in need.
