Civilians and soldiers were killed when Israel and “terrorist organizations” launched strikes near the Syrian city of Aleppo, the Defense Ministry in Damascus said early today.

The Israeli shelling targeted various positions in Aleppo province and was launched around 01:45 (local time; 00:45 Greek time), the ministry said.

They coincided with drone strikes from Idlib and the western part of Aleppo province, which the same source said were carried out by “terrorist organizations” targeting civilians in and around Aleppo city, according to the same source.

These attacks resulted in “martyrs” (i.e. losing their lives) or injuries to “citizens and soldiers” and damage to “public and private property”, always according to Damascus.

The Ministry of Defense did not give a more specific account of the casualties, nor did it explain whether the deaths were due to Israeli or anti-regime bombing.

Yesterday, Thursday, two civilians were killed in an Israeli aerial bombardment on the outskirts of Damascus, he said, however. Earlier, the ministry spoke of two wounded in this specific Israeli raid.
