The President of France Emanuel Macron will hold talks “within the next few hours” with the German Chancellor Olaf Solts and the American president Joe Biden for crisis between Russia and Of Ukraineannounced the Elizeimmediately after the telephone conversation that the French leader had with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
THE Macron may also contact British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Italy Mario Draghi but also “with other close partners”, the French presidency added.
Earlier Elize announced that Macron and Putin agreed to “intensify diplomatic efforts” to preserve peace.
According to the Russian agency Tass, they were in favor of a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. “The two leaders will take all necessary measures to prevent escalation, reduce risks and preserve peace,” he added, citing a statement from the French presidency.
The phone call between Macron and his Putin lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes and immediately afterwards the French president spoke for an hour with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
Russian and French Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Jean-Yves Le Drian will have a telephone conversation tomorrow, Monday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed.
Macron and Putin also agreed to convene tomorrow Tripartite Contact Group (TOE), in which the Russiathe Ukraine and OSCE.
