Putin Hints at Space Weaponry Development? Space technology is needed in every sector, including defense, Russia’s president said on Friday, as the US fears the development of Russian nuclear weapons in space.

The development of the space industry contributes to the solution of any project, including reinforcement of the country’s defense capabilitiesVladimir Putin characteristically stated in a meeting he had in the Kremlin with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko and the two cosmonauts who recently returned to Earth from the International Space Station (ISS), Oleg Novitsky and Marina Vasilevskaya from Belarus.

“Today, it is impossible to effectively solve any tasks on Earth without space. Among them are the strengthening of defense capabilities, advanced new materials, medicines, logistics and transportation. In general, space technologies can be applied everywhere, wherever you point your finger,” Putin said, according to TASS.

According to the Russian president, space technology is an important topicand therefore Russia focuses and will focus its attention on it.

“We have a program [την ανάπτυξη του διαστημικού τομέα] in Russia by 2030 and its further promotion by 2036. We are constantly working on it. It is clear that money is always tight, but there is still mobility,” he noted.

In addition, Putin addressed the cosmonauts, congratulating them and the entire space industry on today’s Cosmonaut Day.
