The joint visit to Lebanon will take place as part of the EU’s practical support to the country due to the Middle East crisis
On May 2, the president of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, is expected to travel to Lebanon with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as he stated in the statement he made while attending the summit in Brussels.
“To inform you that the President of the Commission has just informed me that we will visit Lebanon together on May 2nd. I have contacted the Prime Minister of the country so that we can show her practical support The European Union in the effort made with Lebanon, within the framework of the discussion of the effects of the situation in the Middle East” he noted.
At the same time, Nikos Christodoulidis emphasized that “the Cyprus issue is connected to the progress of Euro-Turkish relations and I hope that through the discussion a positive mood will be given on the part of the European Union, the member states, including our own positive mood, the development of which it will depend exclusively on the progress in the Cyprus issue”, he emphasized while expressing his satisfaction that there is a specific reference in the draft to the issue of the resumption of talks.
