Iran could revise it “nuclear doctrine” of amid Israeli threats after the unprecedented Tehran’s missile and drone attacksays a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Tasnim news agencyas reported by The Times of Israel.

“A review of our nuclear doctrine and policy, as well as previously announced assessments, is entirely possible“, says o Ahmad Haghtalabthe IRGC commander in charge of nuclear security.

Tehran has long claimed that its nuclear program was for civilian purposes. Israel has accused Iran of wanting to acquire an atomic bomb and has said it will not allow that to happen.

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel during Saturday night into Sunday morning in its first direct attack on Israeli soil.

The barrage came in retaliation – as Tehran claimed – after an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian consular building in Damascus killed seven IRGC soldiers, including two generals.

Israel and its allies shot down the vast majority of drones and rockets and the attack caused one injury, but concerns about possible Israeli retaliation have nevertheless fueled fears of a widespread regional war.
