The American television network ABC News reported, citing a source in the American government, that missiles launched by Israeli aircraft hit a facility in Iran in the early hours of the morning.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s government said this week it reserves “the right to defend itself” against Iran, following Iran’s weekend attack of more than 350 drones and missiles fired at Israeli territory, almost all of which were destroyed in flight.

He did not give any information about the means, the date, or the goals of a possible retaliation operation.

Meanwhile, Iran’s FARS news agency reports that explosions were heard in the area of ​​the airport in the city of Isfahan (central Iran), adding that the reason is not yet known and that “investigations are underway.”

“Flights over the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran have been suspended,” state media said.

Iran activated air defenses in several provinces in the early hours of the morning amid reports of “strong explosions” in Isfahan province, Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported.

Aerial bombardments took place at dawn in Sweden, in southern Syria, the founder of a regional news website told AFP, amid reports of at least three “powerful explosions” in Iran.

“There was shelling against a Syrian army radar position in the western part of Sweida province,” explained Rayan Marouf, without being able to specify by whom.

Sirens are sounding in cities near the border with Lebanon, due to the suspected entry of an enemy aircraft into Israeli airspace.

Several drones were “shot down” by Iran’s anti-aircraft defense in the early hours of the morning, but, at least “so far”, there is no information about a missile attack, a representative of the Iranian space agency assured a while ago.

“Until now, there has been no foreign air attack on Isfahan or other parts of the country,” Hussein Dalirian said via X, refuting US TV network reports of an Israeli attack on Iran.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio published a post on X that read “Israel has the ability to strike targets inside Iran without entering Iranian airspace from aircraft over Syrian and Iraqi airspace.”

Earlier Iran’s foreign minister vowed before the UN Security Council that Tehran would make Israel “regret” any attack on the Islamic Republic.

“Iran’s legitimate defense actions and countermeasures have ended, so the terrorist Israeli regime should stop any military adventurism against our interests,” Hossein Amirabdollahian said during the SA meeting on the Middle East situation.

“If the Israeli regime uses force and violates our national sovereignty, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate for a second to reassert its rights by retaliating decisively and sufficiently to make this regime regret its actions,” he added.
