Thousands of Israeli protesters took to the streets on Saturday demanding early elections and demanding more government action to free the hostages.

The protests continue as the war in Gaza enters its seventh month and amid growing anger over the government’s approach to the 133 Israeli hostages still held by the Islamist group Hamas.

Polls show most Israelis blame Netanyahu for the failure of security forces to prevent a devastating attack by Hamas militants on communities in southern Israel on October 7.

Israel’s longest-serving prime minister has repeatedly ruled out early elections, which opinion polls show he would lose, saying going to the polls amid war would be like rewarding only Hamas.
