On the agenda of the contacts are the issues of the Middle East, Ukraine and the South China Sea
THE US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will switch to China next week, from April 24 to 26, for talks regarding the Middle East, Ukraine and the situation in the South China Sea, the State Department.
The talks are aimed at “strengthening channels of communication (and reducing) the risk of miscalculation and conflict,” a senior State Department official said.
“(Blicknen) will articulate clearly and candidly our concerns on issues ranging from human rights, unfair financial and trade practices to the global economic consequences of (China’s) industrial capacity… our deep concerns about (China’s) support to Russia’s defense industry,” the official said.
In November, Mr US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping they met in California after a year of no contact. Talks between members of both governments followed at the highest level.
Earlier this month, the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen traveled to China to meet with representatives of American companies and with members of the Chinese government.
