More than 40 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested on Monday morning at Yale Universitythe school announced.

Yale said in a statement that 47 students protesting the school’s investments in military weapons manufacturers were arrested at Beinecke Plaza and will face disciplinary action, possibly including expulsion.

The school said it made repeated efforts over the weekend to speak with protesters, offered them meetings with administrators and warned of arrests ahead of Monday morning’s action.

“The university made the decision to arrest the individuals who would not leave the plaza with the safety and security of the entire Yale community in mind and to allow access to university facilities to all members of our community,” its leadership said. Yale.
