In the wake of the signing by US President Joe Biden of bill banning the TikTok appin the event that the owner company, China’s ByteDance, does not sell its assets in the US within the next 9 to 12 months, a representative for TikTok issued a written statement, in which he refers to an “unconstitutional law” and points out that the platform will go to court to challenge him.
“This unconstitutional law is a ban on TikTok and we will challenge it in court. We believe that the facts and the law are clearly on our side and we will ultimately win,” the spokesman said in a statement, adding:
“It is a fact that we have invested billions of dollars to keep US data secure and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation. This ban will destroy 7 million businesses and silence 170 million Americans. As we continue to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue to invest and innovate to ensure that TikTok remains a place where Americans of all walks of life can safely come to share their experiences, find joy, and be inspired”.
