According to the Turkish channel Halk TV, the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Joe Biden on May 9 at the White House has been finalized.

Early this morning, the news that the meeting has been closed was reported by the American agency Bloomberg, despite the statement of the spokesman for National Security of the White House, John Kirby, that there is no visit by Erdogan in the program.

In particular, when Kirby was asked if Erdogan’s meeting with Haniyeh last Saturday would be an issue in the meeting with Biden or if it would jeopardize the Turkish president’s visit, he replied: “There is nothing in the program to talk about in terms of a specific visit of President Erdogan. So, I have no comment on that.”

Asked about “who hosts the leader of Hamas,” Kirby said: “Again, I’ll let President Erdogan speak in the meetings he has. We have been very clear about our position on Hamas and who they are and what they stand for. I’ll leave it at that.”
