The 101-year-old woman is undeterred and is looking forward to her next flight
An error in the airline’s reservation system keeps confusing a 101-year-old woman with a baby, according to a BBC report.
As he emphasizes, the problem arises because the systems of the American airline “American Airlines” cannot calculate that the 101-year-old Patricia was born in 1922 and not in 2022.
A BBC reporter witnessed the latest incident on the flight from Chicago to Marquette, Michigan, where the century-old woman and the cabin crew burst into laughter.
101-year-old Patricia was flying with her daughter, Chris. “It was funny that they thought I was just a little kid when I’m an old lady!. My daughter booked the ticket online and the computer at the airport thought my date of birth was 2022 and not 1922,” he said.
“The same thing happened last year, when they were expecting a child instead of me,” Patricia pointed out.
Patricia’s seat was reserved as an adult ticket.
According to the publication, the airport’s computer system is unable to process a date of birth 100 years earlier.
The former nurse, she flies every year to see her family and escape the cold winters. Despite seeing the funny side of the matter, the 101-year-old says she would like to see the problem fixed as it is causing her some problems and says acknowledging her real age would also be beneficial for her daughter.
Patricia traveled alone until she was 97, but now relies on the help of her family as some health problems prevent her.
“I have a problem with my eyesight now, so I wouldn’t want to do it alone,” she said.
However, Patricia is undeterred and says the problems with the system will not stop her from flying as she looks forward to her next flight in the autumn.
By then she’ll be 102 – and maybe by then the airline’s computers will have caught up to her true age.
