“No more shopping in Milan and parties in Saint Tropez”: Damn on twitter with Borel’s post about sanctions in Russia

by

A series of sanctions to the detriment of Russia, which will mainly affect banks and the Russian defense sector, the European Union announced yesterday, with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy stressing that “the package of sanctions it will hurt Russia a lot. ”

He warned that Russia’s “serious breaches” would not go unanswered, adding that EU sanctions would target Russia and its government and prevent the country from gaining access to European and EU capital markets.

All members of the Russian Duma will be subject to EU sanctions, which will include both travel restrictions and a “freeze” on assets.

In this context, Josep Borel made a “mocking” post on his twitter account, which after the reactions of users, he hurried to delete it.

Borel referred to their favorite habits Russian officials and oligarchs in Europe noting: “No more shopping in Milan, parties in Saint Tropez, diamonds in Antwerp. “This is a first step.”

Borel’s post, however, does not seem to have been met with the same humor by Twitter users, who commented that it was offensive and hurts Europe’s reputation.

So, after a while, the tweet was deleted, however some people managed to save it!
