“The current situation poses a clear threat to Europe’s security,” Karis said, referring to a “crucial moment in European history”.
The Estonian leader stressed that the European Union and NATO should keep their doors open in Ukraine, whose current leadership is fighting for membership in both – a position that has angered Moscow.
Karis also called on Russia to withdraw its troops “immediately and unconditionally” from Ukraine and its immediate environs.
