He passed away at the age of 95 famous composer and lyricist Richard Shermancreator of beloved songs from Disney films such as ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, ‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’ and ‘Spoon full of Sugar’ from the musical ‘Mary Poppins’ or ‘It’s a Small World (After all)’.

As it was announced by the company Walt Disney Co, Richard Sherman breathed his last yesterday, Saturday, in a hospital in Beverly Hills in California, USA. His death was attributed to health problems associated with old age.

Along with his brother, Robert, he was an unhittable duo. The Sherman brothers were recognized as among the most prolific composer-lyricists. They signed more than 200 songs, 24 albums went gold and platinum, and were awarded two Oscars and three Grammys.

Richard Sherman was one “disney legend”creating with his brother, Robert, “classic works” that are “a beloved part of the soundtrack of our lives,” Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger points out.

In 2005 the Sherman brothers earned a place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and three years later were honored with the National Medal of Arts at the White House.

Robert Sherman passed away in 2012.
