Fico was attacked by a gunman on May 15 while greeting supporters after a cabinet meeting in Hadlova, a city in central Slovakia
His recovery of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Ficowho was wounded by bullets, will be “too long,” Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak said today, while the hospital described his condition as “satisfactory.”
Fico was attacked by a gunman on May 15 while greeting supporters after a cabinet meeting in Hadlova, a city in central Slovakia. He immediately underwent two hours-long surgeries, in a hospital in the city of Banska Bystrica, where he remains for hospitalization.
“The prime minister’s recovery is finally on track,” Kalinak said, noting that “it will be excessively long because his injuries are very serious.”
Fitcho is now able to accept food.
According to the prime minister’s chief of advisers, Eric Kalinak, who was present at the attack, “within a few millimetres” the bullets could have killed Fitzo. “The small intestine was hit in such a way that it was perforated in five places, but the doctors worked miracles,” he said, according to the website postoj.sk. “If a vital organ had been hit, it would have been fatal,” he added.
The hospital, for its part, announced today that the Prime Minister’s treatment continues as planned and his health condition is satisfactory.
The perpetrator of the attack, 71-year-old Jurai Tsintula, was arrested and remanded in custody, accused of attempted premeditated murder.
