A man who tried to change the taxi codes of a 65-year-old with psychiatric problems was sentenced
A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 6 months in prison, with a 3-year suspension, by the Single-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki, who was found guilty of violating personal data, because he tried to change the taxi codes of his 65-year-old neighbor who faces mental problems and is under judicial support.
The defendant is also being investigated for fraud, following a lawsuit filed against him by his 65-year-old brother.
The plaintiff accuses the 31-year-old of having “washed” 300,000 euros from his brother’s bank account, sold a property he owned and took out three loans in his name.
“They are not related, they are just neighbors. He approached him by taking advantage of his illness and deceived him,” said the victim’s brother, who has legal support for the 65-year-old (with a temporary decision), in court. “He accompanied him to Ampelokipi Secondary School where he gave my brother’s VAT number to change the taxi codes” testified the same witness, describing in court the incident that led to the spontaneous arrest of the 31-year-old, last November.
The accused did not attend the trial and was represented by a lawyer, through which he denied all the charges.
