Brigitte Macron’s move to hold Queen Camilla’s hand at the official ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings has been making the rounds of the internet in recent hours

As the two ladies laid wreaths at Britain’s Normandy memorial, Brigitte Macron reached out to take Camilla’s hand – a move forbidden by royal protocol.

Queen Camilla, visibly taken aback, did not shake her hand, creating an awkward moment that went viral.

After appearing to squeeze the Queen’s hand lightly, Brigitte finally let go and the two stood side by side in front of the monument.

It should be noted that earlier – the French presidential couple had set up King Charles and Queen Camilla for 20 minutes at the ceremony, which was heavily commented on by the French and British media.
